Finally Revealed: 6 Compulsory Things On How To Get Your First Job On Upwork.

There is a general saying that there is money everywhere and that's 100% true.

You can be skillful on Upwork and still not be landing jobs if you lack certain things.

Being skillful is very essential on Upwork but some crucial things must be put in place.

In this piece of article, the things needed to successfully land jobs on  Upwork will be explained.

The first thing I considered very important on Upwork is

1. *Your profile picture.*

This is just like your physical shop. It determines the type of people you will attract. Imagine just building anyhow shop, you know the quality of people that will be patronizing you.

This goes with Upwork. Your profile picture must be compelling for people to say they want to work with you. The best advice in this aspect is that let your profile picture be clear and professional.

Remember you're into a business and you don't want to attract anyhow people to your business or lose potential clients because of the negligence of your profile picture.

Put on a smiling look with your face and shoulder showing alone.

2. Your title

This is a short description of what you're offering. Your title must be short and powerful. When writing this, be specific and don't be a generalist. Let your specificity be tailored to your skill. Being specific will make your potential clients sees you as someone who can handle their job successfully.

3. The overview

The best you can do here is to model the top freelancers in your niche. When I say model, I am not saying you should copy them. Just look at the way they are doing things. It will serve as a guide for you and give you an idea of how to do things.

Note that your overview must contain how you will help your clients achieve their desired results and also talk about your experience.

The mistake most freelancers make here is to just talk about their skills and experience. Show how your skill is going to help their business.

4. Portfolio

This aspect is very important. When building your portfolio, you must understand that you have to make it look attractive. A way that clients will feel enticed to check it and you can always check what the top guys are doing.

5. Experience, testimonial, certifications, and others.

Fill in what you know here and if confused, check what others have done to get an idea.

Before sending any proposal on Upwork, there are some things you must check before applying for any job.

They include:

.The client's payment verification.

. The time in which the job was posted.

You can use a filter to select all this. When you click on the filter button, it will bring some options for you to click. Pick the necessary options and save them.

6. Proposal

This is where you have to be strategic. Getting your first job on Upwork can be tied to how well you know how to write short and straight-to-business proposals.

Before sending any proposal, ask yourself, do I understand this work. You must understand the work because if not, it will show in your proposal. Reading the job post more than twice shouldn't be a waste of time to you.

Is just to make you understand the job post better.

Your proposals must focus on the following before getting you a job.

A. Let it reveal how you want to help your clients.

Imagine sending a proposal and all you do is just to describe the skills and experience you have gained.

That doesn't help. People are much more concerned about themselves than others.

So your proposal must show how you will help your clients get their desired results. And also, add relevant samples when submitting your proposal. Samples that match the job post.

Note that you shouldn't direct them to your portfolio, just copy the link of your relevant samples and add it to the cover letter/proposal.

You can add up to 2 samples to make clients believe you more.

B. Credibility.

Let this show that you have the experience to help them do their job successfully.

C. Tell them what to do.

At the end of your proposal, make sure you tell them that it's important they hire you. We all like being told what to do. And thank them in advance for doing so.

These are just a few things for you to scale through on Upwork. There is more to it.

Remember, things might not get easy in the first place, you have to be consistent with it.
